Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology, Major in Mechanical Technology. Cavite State University Rosario Campus, Rosario, Cavite. April 2017. Adviser: Mr. Nestor M. Alvarez. Technical Critic: Mr. Romulo B. Isorena.
The study was conducted from August 2016 to April 2017 to develop and evaluate a CNC Engraving Machine. Specifically, the study aimed to: 1) Construct a CNC engraving machine; 2) Determine the quality of the engraved material; 3) Evaluate the time and accuracy of machining, and; 4) Conduct a cost analysis for the scrubber.
The CNC Engraving Machine was constructed with mostly aluminum extrusion and 3D printed parts. The developed machine can machine a dimension 120 mm x 140 mm x 30 mm. The stepper motor of the machine has capacity of 600z and has a brand of NEMA 23. Almost 30% of the machine was made out of 3D printed parts for the purpose of lighter parts plus the weight of the aluminum extrusion to give stability on the machine.
The results have given that the complexity of design is directly proportional to the time of machining, if the design was more complex, it took a longer machining time and the machine gives almost the same output as it was programmed.
The most effective way to use the machine was to make and take engraving jobs in any design and generate its own codes. The total cost of the project was PHP. 30,072.
