The branch of physics that deals with the action of forces on matter is referred to as mechanics. Mechanics is an area of science concerned with the behavior of physical bodies when subjected to forces or displacements, and the subsequent effects of the bodies on their environment. The major division of the mechanics discipline separates classical mechanics from quantum mechanics. Quantum mechanics is of a wider scope, as it encompasses classical mechanics as a sub-discipline which applies under certain restricted circumstances. All considerations of motion are addressed by mechanics, as well as the transmission of forces through the use of simple machines. Coriolis force is an responsible for deflection of winds towards the right in the northern hemisphere and left in the southern hemisphere. It is also known as Ferrel's law, and is responsible for deflection of the south-east trade winds which enter the Indian peninsula as the south-west monsoon.
