Thesis Abstract <a href="BUENA, MARK ELDRIES S., BUENAVISTA ROMANO H., MENDOZA RICHARD A., Applied Research IV (Science Education Laboratory High School), Cavite State University Rosario Campus, Rosario, Cavite, 2009, "ALOE VERA LEAVES EXTRACT AS AN ALTERNATIVE INGREDIENT IN MAKING SHOE POLISH"

Adviser. Mrs. Caridad S. Merced

The study entitled "Aloe Vera Leaves Extract as an Alternative Ingredient in Making Shoe Polish" was conducted at Cavite State University Rosario Campus. It was conducted to determine if aloe vera extracts were possible to be alternative ingredients in making shoe polish. Specifically, the study aimed to know the significant difference between the commercial shoe polish and the aloe vera shoe polish in terms of polishing capability, water resistance and general acceptance. It also aimed to determine the best treatment to make a shoc polish.

The study used Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) as its research design. Students were employed as respondents of the study. Chi-square and Cramer's V test were used to test the significant difference among treatments.

Results showed that there were no significant differences among the treatments and the commercial shoe polish in terms of polishing capability, water resistance and general acceptance. Treatment 3, containing 22.5 ml. of Aloe vera extract, 7.5 ml. petroleum jelly and 10 grams of black dye, was the most effective according to the sensory evaluation conducted by the researchers. Therefore, the study recommends the use of aloe vera as an ingredient for the manufacture of alternative shoe polish. In light of the results of the study, some recommendations were made. Futher study must be conducted to improve the quality of the shoe polish and other studies should be conducted about the shelf-life of the product of the study. The can also be used in Micro Business. Lastly, further study can be conducted on the packaging of the product.">BUENA, MARK ELDRIES S., BUENAVISTA ROMANO H., MENDOZA RICHARD A., Applied Research IV (Science Education Laboratory High School), Cavite State University Rosario Campus, Rosario, Cavite, 2009, "ALOE VERA LEAVES EXTRACT AS AN ALTERNATIVE INGREDIENT IN MAKING SHOE POLISH"

Adviser.
