Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology major in Drafting Technology.Cavite State University, Rosario Campus,Rosario Cavite. April 2017. Adviser: Mrs. Ma Daisy A. Santos. The study was conducted from February 2015 to May 2016 to develop and evaluate a wall metal scanner. Specifically the study aimed to: 1) design and develop a prototype of Wall Metal Scanner. 2) construct the project study out of locally available parts and materials. 3) evaluate the prototype performance according to the following criteria: a.) accuracy of wall metal scanner in detecting reinforcement bars b.) accuracy of wall metal scanner in detecting copper wire c.) accuracy of wall metal scanner in detecting live cable 4) conduct a cost analysis for the Wall Metal Scanner.
A Wall Metal Scanner is an active hand-held metal scanner detector with a high sensitivity to metal such as reinforcement bar, copper wire and live cable. Detection and alarming take place when the instrument is passed in close proximity to metal objects. The detection range is dependent upon the size and conductivity of the metal object. The larger the object, the greater the detection distance. The device consists of five major parts which are the three light indicators, 9 volt rechargeable battery, metal detector circuit, IC frequency detector (6.8 khz),plastic luminous ring, liquid crystal display (LCD),LCD stand, and key pad button.
The wall metal scanner was accurate in detecting reinforcement bars which was the same in the zircon stud sensor, the zircon stud sensor had shown precise results in the detection of copper wires which is just the same as in the developed device. Also, we barely observed that the result in terms of accuracy in locating live cable detection, zircon stud sensor and the developed prototype in detecting metal object has no difference. Based on the result the wall metal scanner was acceptable in locating metal objects which were inserted inside the wall.
