Summary: General Chemistry 2 is prepared with the guiding principle of aiming to develop in students a scientific attitude. This book is rich in examples and exercises as well as laboratory activities that supplement the discussions in the text. This book aims to develop in the student’s problem solving skills by asking questions that do not merely require simple recall or substitution in formulas but rather the use of higher-order thinking skills. We recognize that this is the first time that students will be exposed to a deeper discussion of chemistry principles. Hence, we have tried to bridge the gap by starting with easier to understand topics and gradually moving to the more difficult topics. To alleviate the difficulty of learning the subject of chemistry, this book includes real-life applications of principles for the students to appreciate that chemistry is indeed applied to almost everything that humans do in everyday life. This book covers four units on Phases of Matter, Solutions, Chemical Energetics, and Equilibrium. The topics in this book are detailed discussions of related concepts to chemical reactions—energetics, reaction rates, and equilibrium in reactions.
