ARMINTIA, MICHAEL EDWARD T., MANDAWE, RUTH KIMBERLY R. PicoScale Hydro Power Generation Using Cross Flow Turbine in Residential Water Pipelines. Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Cavite State University-CCAT Campus, Rosario, Cavite. June 2019. Adviser: Engr. Ariesthotle D. Arive. Technical critic: Engr. Dexter S. Ramos.

Conducted from August 2018 to March 2019, this study was inspired by growing trend in harnessing electrical energy from renewable resources. This study aims to make an electrical energy power generator using cross flow turbine installed in residential water pipelines. Specifically, it aimed to: I) design and develop a cross flow turbine; 2) test and evaluate the efficiency of the system through the generated voltage and turbine revolution speed as function of water pressure; and 3) project the energy harvested by this study after five year.

This project was constructed with a pressure gauge that shows the real time pressure that enters the system, a charge controller that protects the battery from under voltage or over voltage, a lithium-ion battery to store the generated electrical energy, and a pure sine wave inverter to convert DC from the battery into AC. Through evaluation, it was proven that this study is feasible and is suitable as an additional source of electrical energy in residences with water pipelines.
