520 _aPAVO, KENNETH A., Library Noise Detection with Voice Warning System. Design Project. Department of Engineering. Cavite State University-Cavite College of Arts and Trades Campus, Rosario, Cavite. June 2018. Adviser: Mr. Jurick P. Paulino. Technical Critic: Ms. Diane P. Arayata. The study was conducted from May 2017 to March 2018 at Cavite State University -CCAT Campus, Rosario Cavite. A library is a learning place for everyone and when it becomes a noisy, the rule to observe silence is violated. With this implication, the researcher decided to design a system with voice warning that can help detect noise in the library and let the people become aware whenever they are making loud noises. The study generally aimed to develop a sound sensor device to help the staff of the library. Specifically, the study aimed to: (1) design an effective and efficient device for the use of school libraries; (2) evaluate the device in terms of: (a) sound sensor with varying distances; (b) time delay of strobe light from sensor; (c) time delay of speaker from se􀁲or; and (3) conduct a cost analysis of the system. It further provides means of instructing students to be responsible in maintaining a level of noise in the library which is conducive to studying. This study can also be used as basis to reduce noise inside facilities such as rooms, hotels, library and hospital. The system can only be used indoors with a certain area limit and will not cover the entire CvSU-CCAT library. The system uses a sound sensor module to detect noise and a microcontroller in delivering the output of voice warning from the sound board through the speaker amplifier and notification of library staff through the strobe light. The distance of the noise or sound from the device whether the device worked in different distances and the time delay for the strobe light and the speaker from the sound sensor were considered in testing the system. The results showed that the limit distance of the source from the device are the following: 96 -96.4 dB = 3 feet; 96.5 -96.8 dB = 5 feet; 96. 9-97 .1 dB = 9 feet; 97.2-100.4 dB= 13 feet. The serial monitor of the Arduino showed that time delay is 0 second in all the 3 trials conducted which means that the program works instantaneously without having any delay from the sensor to the strobe light and speaker. Therefore, it was proven that the device is effectively operational until particular limited distances given that the noise reached 75 decibels and above without any time delay from the detection of the sound sensor. Future researchers may focus on extending the coverage area of the device so that it can also be used for places with larger area and consider reproducing it so other facilities like rooms, hotels and hospitals may enjoy the benefit of the system.
